First Eucharist

Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist is a joyful and meaningful milestone for families. We aim to make this journey enriching and engaging, encouraging a lifelong relationship with Jesus and His Church.

This preparation typically takes place during a child’s 2nd-grade year, though children must be active participants in Faith Formation both the year prior and during the year they receive the sacraments, either through their parish program or a Catholic school.

In addition to Faith Formation, there is a separate sacrament preparation program that includes a parent meeting, workshops, a retreat, and at-home study. Much of the preparation will be done at home using an interactive online program. Once enrolled, families receive a schedule with important dates and details. We look forward to helping your child prepare to receive these beautiful gifts of grace.

The earliest age for First Sacraments is typically age 7 (grade 2), though children may receive them later as well. Preparation for Reconciliation begins in the fall and for Eucharist in the early spring.

Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, God forgives our sins through the priest, restoring our relationship with Him and the Church. Because we are one Body in Christ, both our sins and our good deeds affect the whole community. In this sacrament, it is Christ Himself who forgives through the ministry of the priest, offering reconciliation, peace, and spiritual strength.

The Eucharist is the true Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. By receiving it, we are united more deeply with Christ and one another, sharing fully in the New Covenant of salvation established by Him.
