Days of Fast and Abstinence during Lent

During Lent, Catholics are expected to observe Ash Wednesday and Good Friday as days of Abstinence and Fasting. Each Friday in Lent is a day of Abstinence from meat. While only those 14 years and older are expected to abstain from meat and those between 18 years old and 59 are expected to fast, parents are encouraged to educate children in a genuine sense of penance.
