Outreach – Local Food Pantries / Clothing

 Food Pantry Outreach

Outreach—Feed the Hungry

Fall / Winter is here and that means warm hearty comfort food, football, sweaters and jackets.  It is also the months of National Chili month, National Caramel month, National Apple month and National Eat Together, Eat Better month.

We, the Food Pantry Ministry hopes this inspires you to help our collection this month of non-perishable food items. Please consider donating canned meats and chili, canned fruits and veggies, along with peanut butter/sun butter/almond butter and jelly. Your generosity allowed us to deliver 12 boxes of food/paper goods and toiletries to the two Food Pantries in Hereford.  The pantries were so thankful for your generosity and thank you for thinking of your fellow community members that are in need. Please remember to bring them to OLG when the Church is open. No fresh foods, dairy products, open packages or refrigerated foods. The pantries are always in need of paper products and toiletries as well.

Thank you again!

Our Daily Bread (ODB) Sunday

EVERY 5TH SUNDAY OF THE MONTH

Our Daily Bread (ODB) is a free food program sponsored by Catholic Charities. It has been providing daily, a hot nutritious lunch, 365 days a year, from 10:30am—12:30pm. ODB has never closed a day since it began in 1981. OLG supplies the casseroles, transportation and volunteers whenever there is a 5th Sunday in a month.

¨ Prepare the easy “Zippy Beef” casserole (aluminum pan and recipe provided). Pans will be distributed 2 weeks prior to ODB Sunday.

Return FROZEN casserole on ODB Sunday between the hours of 8:15am and 8:45am on the church parking lot

The delicious casseroles are easy to prepare then freeze. Make one for ODB and one for your family supper. The minimum age to volunteer to serve is 14 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. Age 15 and up may come alone. If you have any questions OR would like to volunteer to serve or drive, please contact Elaine Hagner – grand3975@gmail.com. Take the opportunity to involve your family, no matter their age, in the preparing the casserole or food shopping. Other items needed at ODB: commercial size canned vegetables or fruit, tea bags, sugar, family size macaroni and cheese, dish detergent, large cans of spaghetti sauce, large bags of rice and pasta, condiments, salad dressing, salt and pepper, peanut butter, jelly, fresh sandwich rolls or bagels, cookies, cooking spray, brown lunch bags, sandwich size zip lock bags, paper towels or toilet tissue.

Clothing Outreach

Our Lady of Grace Outreach members are currently assisting in the collection and organization of clothing and household goods at Assisi House.

Ministering to those in need in Baltimore City with free clothing and food, Assisi House is located at St. Patrick’s Church in Fells Point.

These community members are in dire need of items you may have too many of, which can help them meet their basic needs.

Each month, we will collect some specific items which are needed, helping you minimize and simply your life in the process.

Look for upcoming items to be posted in the near future.
